It was really fun for Justin and I to meet with my pastor and talk about some touchy feely stuff. This first meeting was mostly just to get to know us both better, the next one will be more in depth into marriage. The last meeting will be mostly about the actual ceremony itself and stuff.
Before our meeting with the pastor we met with the photographer. She was really sweet and had some cool ideas. She's done a lot of weddings in my church so she knows a lot of the ropes. She had a really cool idea for bringing Justin and I together before the ceremony so that we could take pictures. It should be pretty cool.
My mom and I also went dress shopping. I'm pretty sure I've found the dress. I just need to call the lady and order it. I really need to get some pictures of it up first though so that I can get some votes and find out if it is the one. There are actually two. My mom and I like them both the best of all the ones we've seen, but my #1 is her #2. So, a little bit of a difference of opinion, but not so much that it won't work out.
Well, that's all I have for now. Sometime this week Jamie and I are going to go through some books from the library and some cake books to get some good ideas. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
Well, I'm off to go read some Descartes for Western Civ.
P.S. Meagan I will change my template soon I promise.

Where can I find the nearest bottle of Valium?

So far the wedding planning has been only a little stressful. At first I was wondering if Justin understood that asking me to marry him meant that we were actually going to get married and not that I would just shut up about getting engaged. Finally, I lit my fire under him and he began to get excited about parts of the wedding. Unfortunately, the three things that he really wanted to have a say in (where we are getting married, where the reception will be, and what we will eat at the reception) didn't exactly go his way.
1. The place where he wanted to get married doesn't let you have weddings there.
2. The reception site was too small for our guest list.
3. BBQ will be better suited for the rehearsal dinner.
Now let me say that I feel really bad that he has been disappointed repeatedly by the fact that he has been unable to get his way, but that doesn't mean things won't be fun or that he can't be involved anymore. I think he understands it and is ok with it all.

Now for the part where I might need the pills. Wedding dress shopping. I pretty much know what I want: strapless, white, long train, not a lot of flash but maybe a little embroidery on the bodice, and possibly buttons down the back or a corset back. The problem is that finding this perfect dress is becoming increasingly impossible. I understand that I will probably find my perfect dress at some point in time, and that I have plenty of time since the wedding is 10 months away. I just don't want to do the shopping for it part.
I was less than pleased with the first place I went to, mainly because the lady I was stuck with was very rude. The second place I went to had the majority of its dresses at a show so I didn't even try anything on. Friday I am embarking on my third dress shop. The shop came highly recommended and my mom and I are driving an hour and a half to go there and try on dresses for a couple of hours. Here's where the stress came in.
The plan was that we would have our appointment at 1:30. My mom said that she didn't have anything that day so she didn't care when we would go. Justin's mom gets off of work at 11:00 on Friday, so she was ok with that time too. Then, this morning my mom called to say that she forgot that my littlest brother has "Meet your teacher day" at school that afternoon at 3:30 and she has to take him because my dad can't. So, now we had to make our appointment for earlier in the day.
The earlier appointment would be fine, except that Justin's mom really can't make it to an earlier appointment because of work. My mom made me feel bad (probably not purposely) by saying that I could just go with Justin's mom and tell her about it when I got home. Of course that wouldn' t work. One, my mom is buying the dress. Two, the whole dress shopping experience is something that I want to share with my mom. On the other hand, lately I've felt like I'm getting closer to Justin's mom and I really like that. Its also nice to feel like she wants to go do those things with me and spend so much time with me.
So what's a girl to do?
Well, I went ahead and changed the appointment to 11:00. My mom and I will go and if we get there and realize that the dress shop is really cool, we are going to call Justin's mom and she'll drive over to see it too. Then, if I want to stay later than 1:30, I can just ride home with Justin's mom. I hope that sounds reasonable.
Honestly, the hardest part of the day was calling Justin's mom to tell her that the plans changed. I wanted to get the point across that I want her there badly enough that I would ask her to go out of her way and drive herself there, but I don't want to make her feel obligated in case she doesn't want to go. How do you tell someone that you really want them somewhere, but if they aren't there its ok without making it sound like you really don't care if they are there?
Am I crazy?

I guess now that it is in writing it doesn't seem so crazy or stressful. Maybe I don't need the Valium, I just need a little blog time everyday.

Some basic facts about the wedding

Date: June 24, 2006
Time: Eh, not sure yet probably around 4-5
Where: Salina, KS
Colors: Light blue and yellow
Flower: White Calla Lilies
Dress: Haven't gotten it yet but I want a simple strapless with a little design, but not overdone.
Wedding Party: 3 bridesmaids, 2 junior-bridesmaids, 1 flower girl, 4 groomsmen, and 1 ring-bearer.

We're still working on everything else. One of the above groomsmen still hasn't been named, Justin hasn't decided who to give that honor to.
